There is a web site: <
www.heavensabove.com>
that allows you to input your location, and will tell you when the International Space Station and Shuttle etc are overhead in your area.
Last night we watched the ISS go overhead, and it will be viewable for the next three days. Sunday the Shuttle joins the ISS, so if one is lucky, and it is doing it over one's area, you will be able to see the shuttle maneuvering, with jets of rocket fuel clearly visible.
Get to a dark area, take binoculars, and watch in the zone specified by the chart.
When registered, you can add multiple locations, if you travel a lot and can use GPS coordinates, or zip code.
Finally, Iridium Flares: Iridium satellites have huge solar panels, When they are in just the right position, they reflect sunlight down to earth's surface. While watching a satellite flying overhead, suddenly the small spot of light, grows in intensity, until it sometimes makes shadows! It looks like the satellite is about to land in your lap. Quite a surprising optical illusion. lasts about 6 seconds, and some are brighter than others.
Found on the same web site.
Enjoy!
