I've been rooting around for info and I think the next time I get to escape I'm going to check out the areas around Placerville and on East a ways up the Mehkulmne river  - the bedrock is very shallow there. Just have to get out of the mainstream flow of people.

OK, life goes on but I'm still not able to post pictures and I see that others have figured it out????why me? We got back from Downieville yesterday and I was going to post a few pictures of the stuff we found but this is not to be, I will once agian go to Sal for some help. We explored some new areas and found some ok gold, some of the country we tackled is a little harder to get into and we didn't find a whole bunch of cracks to snipe but we did find a few, there sure is a lot of smooth bedrock out there. Not sure if this is my last trip for the year to hunt gold or not, bird hunting season is almost upon us and that cuts into my gold and rock hunting time, being retired is sure a busy time so much to do and so little time to get it done in. Look for pictures in the photo album if Sal will help me out....coldwatergold

Bob - I'll get to them when I can.  It takes more time than you realize.   These pics are 5mb apiece.  Just sizing them without losing the integrity takes quite a bit of time.

I have no idea what to tell you if the tutorials in the help section aren't working for you.  Just hold on and when I can spring the spare time I'll get them up.

I'm trying to upload a few pictures using photobucket of our last two gold trips, if I can figure this out it will save Sal a bunch of work...coldwatergold

ha..my order from Kellyco just arrived and I am now the proud owner of two new coin/gold probes....these probes made by Garrett Electronics are just the thing for checking out  high cracks in the bedrock that are out of the water to see if there is anything metal (gold for example) in them....off to the creeks as soon as possible...coldwatergold   ps....anybody else hunt gold out there beside Clayton, Sal and myself?Huh
